Matenadaran, also known as The Museum of Ancient Manuscripts, is where you will find the world’s biggest collection of ancient books and Armenian manuscripts. Located at the foot of a small hill in central Yerevan, the museum was established in 1959 to house the nationalized collection by the Armenian Church. The collection has since increased significantly, most of which came from individual donations.

Today, Matenadaran is home to a vast collection of books in a wide range of topics, from history, art, philosophy, medicine, geography, and more. The marble interior of the building is elaborately decorated, which includes statues of famous Armenian scholars. There are also exhibitions of ancient relics and some treasured Armenian books. This museum is a great place to visit if you want to learn more about Armenian culture and history.
