Kotayk Region
Kotayk Marz is a region in the central part of Armenia with a population of 325 000 people. The centre of Kotayk marz is Hrazdan city, named so after the river Hrazdan that flows through Yerevan dividing it into two parts. A very popular city here is Tsakhkadzor - a spa town not far from Yerevan. Tsakhkadzor is a popular health resort, and during winter time it becomes the most popular ski resort in Armenia, which attracts a lot of tourists. The length of the ski ways is 30 km, whereas the difference in heights is nearly 853 m, which is perfect for both beginners and experienced skiers or snowboarders. Kotayk Marz is also famous for two sites – Geghard Monastery and Garni temple, which are among the most popular touristic destinations in Armenia.
