Numisi Cellar

Numisi Cellar

Kakheti region is famous for winemaking and wine cellars, one and the oldest is Numini Cellasr-Museum. The oldest XVI century Numisi wine cellar is located in the small village of Velistsikhe, Kakheti region.  The cellar is built in ancient classical architecture with white river stones and bricks. The cellar introduces excellent arched wine storage, with old limestone wine presser (Satsnakheli) & 33 clay pitchers (Qvevri) sunk underneath the ground, wine is so amazing and natural because of wine ageing and fermentation in Qvevri. Take a glance at the large collection of copper, glass, pottery, and timber vessels (mostly used for wine drinking), as well as the other items like woman jewelry, necklaces, rings, XVIII century wine copper kitchen utensils, old carpets and furniture- that’s why this place is also called Vine and Wine Numisi Cellar-Museum.  A very unique old French “Marmonies” firm grape presser machine, the old German wine allocator pumps & lots of other old stuff. You will have a great time in the yard of the wine cellar you can see the old wooden grain storage “Begeli”, take part in tradition Kakhetian bread “Shoti” baking, also listen to Georgian folk music and have unforgettable time.
