Sataplia Nature Reserve
Sataplia Nature Reserve
The Sataplia Nature Reserve is named after the nearby Sataplia Mountain. Its name translates to “place of honey.” Sataplia Nature Reserve is located 6 kilometers North-West of Kutaisi. Here you can find preserved dinosaur footprints and a beautiful cave complex featuring numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Within the area of the reserve there is a museum and a glass walkway overlooking breathtaking natural scenery.
The nature reserve holds some above-ground treasures, too. Before you enter the cave, you’ll come across the conservation building. There, you’ll find remarkably well-preserved dinosaur footprints. The footprints came from the various herbivores and raptors that once roamed this part of Georgia.
