Guests will be met by our airport representatives at a designated meeting point and will be transferred to the hotel. Half-day Tbilisi tour. The city offers a wide variety of sights, most of them very ancient. We begin our visit just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel in the compact area of Old Tbilisi. Starting at the church of Metekhi, we walk to the brick domes of sulfur baths and then on to spectacularly located Narikala’s fortress – one of the oldest fortresses in Georgia, overlooking Mtkvari river gorge. After that, we visit the synagogue, and the Sioni and Anchiskhati churches, which mark the end of the Old Town. Overnight in Tbilisi.
After breakfast in the hotel, we visit the ancient capital – Mtskheta and see its historical sites: Jvari monastery (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th century). Both are UNESCO World Heritage sites. Then we drive north towards the Northern Caucasus along the well-known Georgian Military Road. On the way, we visit Ananuri – a 17th century complex. An exciting drive from Gudauri along the Terek River will take us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. From Kazbegi, drive with 4 WD vehicles to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. In good weather, you can see one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – the mountain Kazbegi (5047m). We go back to Tbilisi. Spend the night in Tbilisi.
In the morning, you go to the beautiful city of Sighnaghi - city fortress, with amazing views of the Caucasus Mountains, visit Sighnaghi Ethnographic Museum and visit the monastery complex Bodbe founded in the 4th century. Continue the tour visiting unique winery of Khareba – the wine tunnel in the rock. Here you can see the difference in European style wine making and traditional Georgian wine making and taste best wines produced by Khareba Winey. After that, you will visit Alaverdi Monastery, which was founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph (Yoseb, Amba) Alaverdeli in VI century. Visit Matsoni House nearby Alavardi Monastery. Matsoni is a type of yogurt, pure Georgian traditional one. You will taste different kinds of that yogurt, which will make you surprise by its different and marvelous taste. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi.
