The Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet

Yerevan's Opera house is not to be missed on your next trip to Armenia. The building itself is impossible not to notice; it is the nexus of the downtown area, surrounded by a small park, an open leisure area for pedestrians, and numerous cafes and restaurants. 

The Opera house has been around since 1932, with many Armenians today recognizing it as an important preservative site of their heritage and culture. The performances range from the old Armenian ballets by Khachaturian to productions by Brahms and Tchaikovsky. 

The inside halls of the building reflect its exterior: grand and simple in nature. The theater inside, comparatively, seats up to 1,000 people and has an intimate feel to it.
